Hello! I'm beyond excited to share this week's episode with you. I'm joined by writer Dylan James Quarles (The Ruins of Mars) to talk about the 90s Luc Besson sci-fi, action-adventure, but sometimes also love story, The Fifth Element.
Topics covered range from Paul Verhoeven to 'maximalism' to Gary Oldman's chameleon-like greatness to the odd sexualization of an alien-baby universe savior.
Food for thought: can you think of any other films in the history of cinema where the film's good guy doesn't actually ever have a scene with the film's bad guy?
Enjoy! Don't forget to subscribe and leave a review!

Grease 2 (with Bob Thompson)

Friday Jul 29, 2022

Friday Jul 29, 2022

Hi there! In this episode we're going back to the biggest film of 1982. Okay, well maybe not. But today's film still holds a warm place in my heart - as well as this week's guest - Bob Thompson. Of course, we're talking about the film that introduced us to songs like 'Reproduction,' 'Back to School' and 'Lets do it for our Country' (as well as introduced me to Michelle Pfeiffer). That's right - Grease 2! *Standing ovation*
And while it's argued this film may have killed the franchise it still gave us incredible banger track after banger track that rivals even the original Grease's soundtrack. Yes, I mean that with absolute sincerity. Don't judge me! Just sit back and enjoy the smooth sounds of this week's show.
